My daughter was in 6th grade band last year. She did well but has moved on to other things this year. It is sort of bittersweet for me. I enjoyed her being in band, but the equipment and costs could be a little overwhelming. I am a lucky one though. We rented her trombone and case from the school which is good for us. The school on the other hand, not so much.
I can only imagine the cost of keeping the programs, like band, running for a school system. The cost of instruments, books, stands, instrument cases, baton cases, batons, and who knows what else is involved. It is overwhelming I'm sure. Thanks to lots of caring people helping out, music programs are still active in some schools.
